Fascinators First | Washington, DC Product Photographer

I’m way late on this, but I wanted to make sure I took time out to give a vendor spotlight to a wonderful Etsy shop by the name of Fascinators First!

Rita Gruzman is the owner and creator of the beautiful headpieces in this shop. I reached out to her a few weeks back for use of one of her colorful fascinators for my Neon + Neutral wedding editorial- to which she gladly obliged :) She sent along a few additional headpieces which I photographed separately and are viewable below.

I am in love with just about every one of these pieces and I think everybody needs one of these in their life! lol… Seriously though, if you’re a bride planning your wedding, why not consider a fun headpiece over a traditional veil? Not a bride? Not to worry :) You can always wear a fascinator to a special occasion to add a little extra flare to your outfit! Anyway, whenever you decide you’re ready to get one, definitely make sure you stop by Fascinators First :)

Wednesday Update | Neon + Neutral Editorial

Part 2 of today’s Wednesday Update :)

So for the past month, I have been working with a number of vendors to bring to life an idea I had for a wedding editorial- Neon + Neutral! I’ve been so inspired lately by the neon/neutral trend and I thought it would be a fun and unique way to do a wedding. We shot the editorial last Saturday at the beautiful Dickson Wine Bar in DC and I am in love with the images!

I won’t be able to share any official photos just yet, but I can share a couple behind the scenes shots taken with instagram by various folks from our team :)

Wednesday Update | Natural Chica

Heyy guys!

So it’s been a few days… and I have soo much to update you guys on :)

Remember the session I did a couple weeks ago with Mae of Natural Chica? Her session has received sooo much love, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who left feedback on the facebook album, Natural Chica’s link, and here on the blog! I also want to extend a big WELCOME to all the new folks that have found me through Mae :) Her session has been my top viewed, liked, commented, & reblogged entry- all thanks to you lovely folks!

So one other awesome thing? (If you follow me on instagram you already know :) Less than a week after our session, I was tagged on instagram in this photo:

And I couldn’t believe it! Was this a magazine? I’d never heard of curlBox! But I looked at their website and saw they are a natural hair product subscription service! I received an email from the company regarding the photo- the art director for curlBox saw Mae’s photos on the web and fell in love with them! They reached out to Mae for use of the photo and she made sure I was properly credited :)

 For the next week or so, curlBox posted teaser photos:

 

And each time I was just as excited as if it was my first time seeing them lol… it’s so awesome seeing my work in print! I am now waiting patiently to receive mine :)

I have soo much to update you guys on, and not enough time! I’ll be doing a second installment later on today about an exciting new project I’ve been working on :)

June Photo A Day Project: Complete!

Last month I participated in Fat Mum Slim’s ongoing photo a day project. As I mentioned in my mid-month post, she’s been doing these every month since the beginning of the year! I kept up really well this month- wayy better than I did back in February lol… that is until the last few days of the month :/ I got pretty busy and ended up taking the last few photos on the same day lol.

I was contemplating continuing on with July then I realized that is probably not a good idea… this month is going to be the epitome of busy! Anyway, here are my photos for the June Photo A Day Project!

Mae | Washington, DC Lifestyle Photographer

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing the very beautiful and equally as talented Mae aka Natural Chica! 

If you are a natural hair lover, I’m sure you already know who this is :) With over 81,000 subscribers to her youtube channel, Mae is one of THE go-to resources for all things natural hair- everything from product reviews, style tutorials, healthy hair tips- Mae has it all! So it’s safe to say that I was beyond thrilled when I noticed she became a fan of my DFinney Photography facebook page a few months ago! I reached out to thank her and extended the offer for a photo session- fast forward a few months and she graciously took me up on my offer :)

We decided to go with a laid-back vintage inspired session and I am suuper excited to post these images! The makeup artist Denyelle and I had a blast working with Mae! She has such a sweet personality and I think her photos reflect that beautifully :)
