Happy Wednesday!

I’m still somewhat in catch-up mode with my blogging sessions from the Summer so I have a couple more sessions to share today! We could even consider this a Wedding Wednesday post because both of the posts today will be of engagement sessions :)

First up we have my lovely previous client Tonya! When Tonya reached out for engagement pictures with her fiance Kaleth I was so happy for her and couldn’t wait to photograph them! Since they were getting married in Vegas, they decided to take their engagement photos just before they left.

We took a chance scheduling them so closely to when they’d planned to leave, but thankfully the timing and weather worked out perfectly! 

So happy to have worked with these two to capture their love story! Stay tuned for a photo of the brand new Mr. & Mrs. at the end of the post!

These two make such a beautiful couple! Congratulations again and Happy 2 month anniversary :)

I Love Teaching | Truthy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!

Coming to you today with a late Truthy Tuesday because honestly… I couldn’t get my thoughts together lol.

If you follow me on social media, I’m sure you saw just how I couldn’t stop talking about how well the workshop went this past weekend! 

I was SO blown away. Saturday could NOT have been any more perfect. The place was so full of positive vibes from everywhere and everyone. The attendees, models, makeup artists… I walked away feeling so happy, inspired, appreciative, humbled, and truly just overwhelmed with good vibes from such an amazing day.

This year, with the new offering of group mentor sessions, kicked off a year of LOTS of teaching for me. I had no idea I would grow to love teaching so much, but this past weekend just truly solidified that for me. I absolutely LOVE seeing the wheels turn and seeing my folks GET IT! And helping them see that things aren’t as complicated as they thought they had to be. Simple is often overlooked when it comes to certain things and I truly take pride in the fact that I’m able to help folks demystify natural light photography. 

Oddly enough, I fought my “teacher roots” for a long time. I actually come from a family of educators on both sides, and I was adamant about not becoming a teacher. But I guess those teaching genes finally caught up to me lol.

I’m honestly still at a loss for words when it comes to expressing just how much I truly enjoyed this past weekend’s workshop experience. I have never taught a room full of 12 photographers and then had them go out and take such amazing pictures! The proof is in the pictures! Lol

I am LOSING it every time I check the #dfinneyworkshops hashtag and see the new photos the attendees are posting lol. There was plenty of room for creativity and freedom of expression and seeing how everyone was able to execute their own unique vision given the tools they learned is simply amazing. 

Huge thanks to these lovely ladies for making our job easy and being such fabulous hair/makeup artists and models :)

I will end this post on this note :D This picture makes me laugh because as silly as Shagari is, in this photo apparently he has no time for our foolishness lol.

I can’t say enough how appreciative I am of those who trust me with their continued photography education and invest in me. It’s because of you that I’ve been able to thrive and truly appreciate you ♥

This has to be one of my favorite headshot sessions to date! It’s full of everything I love- art, color, great styling, and big hair! Lol

When Celena reached out with the ideas for her session, I couldn’t wait to bring them to life! Bright, fun, warm, and energetic are a few of the adjectives I’d use to describer her session- and her personality! I can’t tell you how happy it makes me when I’m able to capture the essence of my clients’ personality in photos ♥

Happy Thursday!

I won’t bombard you with as many posts as I did yesterday lol. I just have two headshot sessions to share with you from the summer :)

First up is Jamésa!

Jamésa and I got together on a VERY warm summer day for her fab headshot session and we had a great time chatting about everything from high school, weddings, and of course business! She is beginning a wedding planning business and wanted fresh and fun imagery to go along with her branding.

Felicia | Washington, DC Headshot Photographer

We made it, ya’ll! 5 hours and 5 blog posts later and we’ve reached the end of my blog blitz for today :) Last, but certainly not least, we have Felicia!

Felicia Leatherwood is a super talented hair stylist and educator specializing in the care of natural hair. She has worked with such celebrities as Jill Scott, Will Smith, and Teyonah Parris to name a few and travels all around the world teaching her Loving Your Hair with Natural Care Workshop!

So when I heard she was coming to DC for a brief visit, I was so excited! I reached out, unsure if we would be able to get together, but Denyelle and I were able to link up with Felicia for a quick, but wonderful headshot session!  

Felicia is absolutely one of the sweetest people I’ve met. Her physical beauty is only surpassed by her warm and welcoming spirit. You can absolutely see how radiant she is by these pictures!  Denni and I had a great time working with her and I look forward to linking up again soon when I visit LA to do a proper session :)
