Tequila Sunrise Pt 1 | Washington, DC Fashion & Editorial Photographer

Good morning lovelies! I hope you all had a great weekend :)

Despite the sweltering heat and sleep deprivation, I had a great weekend! lol… One of the highlights? This awesome shoot I can’t wait to share with you :)

My faaavorite stylist Bianca had this beautiful shoot concept and I couldn’t wait to shoot it! But wait I had to… the original date for this shoot was back in July- the day after the powerful derecho hit our area :/ So needless to say, we had to reschedule. We were so bummed, but things couldn’t have come together more perfectly :)

This was my first time shooting at sunrise and hopefully not my last! (I’m still not a fan of having to get up so early lol) but the photos totally made it worth it!

Huge thanks to the talented team involved (esp for getting up at 2 in the morning)!
Concept/Wardrobe Styling: Bianca Cerise

Here is Part 1 of our sunrise session! Part 2 will be up a bit later :)

Enjoy!

A Little Thursday Inspiration | Tang Yau Hoong

Happy Thursday everyone!

I’ve been a busy bee this week taking care of various projects and preparing for the full month of August ahead of me, but I wanted to drop in and share a bit of inspiration. I realize I don’t share enough things that inspire me, so I’m going to aim to do a bit more of that :)

Today’s post features the work of Tang Yau Hoong, a visual artist/ illustrator/graphic designer from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I discovered him through this post on inspirationfeed.com and I fell in love! I’d actually seen his work before without even realizing it… his work with negative space makes for awesome t-shirt designs :)

Here are a few of my favorites from Tang Yau Hoong!

Beware of Those Hands

Journey to the City of No Horizon

Dawn

Light Painter

So Long, Old World

That last one reminds me of an awesome nail art tutorial I just saw a couple days ago on Polish You Pretty!

I’ve kinda given up doing my own nails these days out of laziness lol, but I know of a couple awesome nail techs who would do an awesome job bringing this to life.

Well that’s it for today’s installment of Inspiration Thursday! I may make this a regular thing, or it may fall by the wayside lol… we’ll see how it goes :)

Have a great day guys!

Brent & Unique | Oxon Hill, MD Wedding Photographer

This summer has been an unusually hot one… days after days of 90+ degree heat with humidity so bad it literally takes your breath away! So in planning for Brent & Unique’s wedding, my brother and I were mentally preparing ourselves for shooting this beautiful outdoor wedding in the blazing sun (sounds fun right? lol) A couple days before the wedding I couldn’t believe the forecast! Who would have thought that their wedding would fall on the first rainy Saturday that we’ve had in weeks?!

Suffice it to say the rain definitely changed the plans for the day, but in the end it was still a beautiful day :)

I just love this photo! It’s like the perfect depiction of Brent & Unique’s wedding day: Rainy & Beautiful :) Photo credit goes to my brother and awesome co-shooter, Adrian!

Here are a few more sneak peek photos from last Saturday’s wedding at Oxon Hill Manor.

Enjoy :)

Fascinators First | Washington, DC Product Photographer

I’m way late on this, but I wanted to make sure I took time out to give a vendor spotlight to a wonderful Etsy shop by the name of Fascinators First!

Rita Gruzman is the owner and creator of the beautiful headpieces in this shop. I reached out to her a few weeks back for use of one of her colorful fascinators for my Neon + Neutral wedding editorial- to which she gladly obliged :) She sent along a few additional headpieces which I photographed separately and are viewable below.

I am in love with just about every one of these pieces and I think everybody needs one of these in their life! lol… Seriously though, if you’re a bride planning your wedding, why not consider a fun headpiece over a traditional veil? Not a bride? Not to worry :) You can always wear a fascinator to a special occasion to add a little extra flare to your outfit! Anyway, whenever you decide you’re ready to get one, definitely make sure you stop by Fascinators First :)

Take a look at some of her beautiful work, “like” Fascinators First on Facebook, and tell her DFinney Photography sent you!

Wednesday Update | Neon + Neutral Editorial

Part 2 of today’s Wednesday Update :)

So for the past month, I have been working with a number of vendors to bring to life an idea I had for a wedding editorial- Neon + Neutral! I’ve been so inspired lately by the neon/neutral trend and I thought it would be a fun and unique way to do a wedding. We shot the editorial last Saturday at the beautiful Dickson Wine Bar in DC and I am in love with the images!

I won’t be able to share any official photos just yet, but I can share a couple behind the scenes shots taken with instagram by various folks from our team :)

Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks! I’ll definitely keep you guys posted :)

I’ll be out of town tomorrow through next Monday, so I hope you guys have a great rest of the week and an awesome weekend!
