What did the attendees think of the session? Hear from them directly on their DFinney Mentoring experience:

The mentor session was impactful! I now understand how to use kelvin!! I also was able to view Danielle’s client engagement and learn techniques to get comfortable and keep my client confident throughout the shoot. Danielle’s personality and temperament were also really welcoming and that helped me feel comfortable engaging in discussions.

-Kimberly

I had a very positive experience! I have never worked with other photographers before- I’ve learned everything I know through books, videos, kelbyone, ppa, and trial & error. The information was not complex, but it helped me focus (no pun intended) on the areas where I can make significant improvement in (e.g., in camera adjustments). Also, it helped me to visualize the potential I have as a photographer.

-Eric

If you would like to have the DFinney Experience yourself and participate in the next group mentor session, check out full details here! Travel dates are currently on hold, but I am still holding sessions here in DC. Interested? 2016 Travel Cancellations | News & Updates

Good Monday afternoon to you!

Just wanted to drop in with an important update-

image

Thank you SO much for your support over the past few years as I’ve incorporated travel into my business! It has been an absolute joy to meet and work with so many beautiful people around the country! Recently I’ve been dealing with some things that have made it necessary for me to pare down my schedule to focus on my health. As a result, I will be canceling the remaining 2016 travel dates after Atlanta in February.

The updated travel calendar is as follows:

Orlando, FL

Mentoring Session 101: Friday, January 29

Atlanta, GA

Mentoring Session 101: Friday, February 26

Mentoring Session 102: Saturday, February 27

(Photo Sessions will be held on February 23 & 24)

The remaining scheduled dates for 2016 (Charlotte in March, Brooklyn in April, Chicago in May, and Houston in June) have been cancelled and will be rescheduled once my health allows.

If you were interested in attending (specifically the Charlotte or Houston sessions), I do have one spot left available for each of the 3 remaining travel dates (101 in Orlando and 101 & 102 in Atlanta) so you’re more than welcome to attend since I’ll be closer to you there than I am in DC :) Just shoot me an email if you’d like to secure your seat.

I do plan to incorporate a modified travel schedule once I’m a little closer to 100% (or even 80% lol) but I don’t have a date yet, and won’t for another few months I’m sure. If you are interested in working together and visiting DC, you are more than welcome! I will still be taking photos and teaching, just closer to home and on a more limited schedule.

Those who were booked for the cancelled dates have already been contacted and refunds have been issued.

My sincere apologies for the date cancellations but I want to make sure I’m giving my best, so to do that, I have to BE my best :) I look forward to working with you as soon as I’m better ♥

Ayasha | One-on-One Mentor Session [September 18-19] | Washington, DC Photography Instructor

It’s Mentor Monday once more!

These weeks have been going by way too fast, and can you believe that in less than one week it will be a new year?! Craziness.

Well today’s post is a recap from a wonderful two day one-on-one session I had back in September with talented Richmond photographer, Ayasha! (Be sure to stay tuned to the end of the post where you can read about her experience in her words :)

The first day was Session 101 where we learned all about shooting effectively with natural light and had a wonderful newly engaged couple- Vanessa & Joseph as our models :) These two were a joy to work with!

After finishing up their practice session, we wrapped up the day with my full post-processing breakdown and touched on a few business questions. More business questions, suggestions, and game plans would be worked out on day 2- Session 102!

Session 102 includes headshots and it’s always interesting getting photographers in front of the camera since we’re so used to being behind it :) Ayasha was so great in front of the camera!

Ayasha walked away with a services & pricing overhaul, as well as tips and practical suggestions for improving the informativeness and functionality of her website.

How did Ayasha feel about her 2 day mentor session? Hear from her directly:

“We clicked instantly! Her spirit is genuine, her teaching is experience-based, and her delivery is thorough, yet without handholding. I appreciate the fact that Danielle is a great listener and gives honest feedback.

Danielle helped me to evaluate my current business objectively and assess my needs going forward. We worked together to set goals and parameters for my business and even developed plans for improving my existing website.

I cannot thank her enough! I am looking forward to updating Danielle with my accomplishments as I continue to grow and meet my goals.”

-Ayasha

Harrison Family | Washington, DC Family Photographer

Good Sunday afternoon to you ♥

I hope you’re doing well and have been enjoying the extended weekend! I meant to share oneeee last family session before I wrapped up the family features here on the blog, but I didn’t get to it on Thursday, so- I saved it for today- SONday :)

I had the privilege of working with this beautiful family of 3 a couple weeks ago and I couldn’t have enjoyed my time with them any more than I did! Lindsey & Ryan have the best one year old ever! Lol this is no exaggeration. Rowan totally loves the camera and I didn’t have to chase him or beg for smiles, or eye contact. Unbelievable! Lol

They are the sweetest little family, so their photos turned out just as sweet :)

Happy Thursday!

Continuing on with yesterday’s family posts, I have two more colorful fall family sessions to share with you today :)

Can I just take a moment and say that I am sooo incredibly happy we’ve had such a beautiful (and extended) fall season this year? It has been absolutely wonderful having such great weather for family photos, colorful leaves, beautiful light… I could not have asked for a better autumn season and I am so very thankful ♥

With that being said, let’s get on to the photos :)

First up is Cachet and her beautiful family! If you follow me on instagram and/or facebook, then you’ve definitely seen a few of these photos- I couldn’t get enough of baby girl’s outfit- I LOVED her hat :)
